Options Explained

1. Custom sizes are available, we make everything on site to order at our workshop in Lincolnshire so we specialise in bespoke sizes, any size is possible and there is no extra charge for this service. However, larger doors would be costed pro-rata, please contact a member of our team for a bespoke quotation. Any door height over 2100mm is charged at an extra 5%. 
2. Diagonal braces are optional but are recommended as they improve strength and stability and stop the door from falling out of square, Cost for braces is £11.99 (+VAT)We do offer a fitting service for these for an extra £31.66 (+VAT) but as standard the braces would be sent unattached without the angles pre-cut (2 pieces 1m long). If ordered pre-fitted we would need to know which way the door is being hung.
3. Door as standard has 3 horizontal ledges, each additional ledge after this is charged at £5.83 (+VAT)which are 21mm thick and between 100mm - 120mm wide, this is decided by us at point of manufacture unless otherwise specified.  Ledges bigger than 120mm wide are charged at £20 (+VAT). All our ledges are manufactured 30mm shorter than the width of the door to be able to leave a 15mm gap either side for the door to close against the door stops. These can be made full width if required. All ledges are chamfered all the way round unless otherwise specified. Ledges as standard are fitted 200mm from the top and bottom of the door and middle ledge is centred but these can be placed anywhere required we would just need to know at the point of order. All of these options are free of charge.
4. Door boards that are tongue and groove and slot together. These are 21mm thick and include a groove stile and a tongue stile to give you the finished edge. The boards have a v groove applied as standard but can square edged or butt & bead if preferred for no extra charge. Every door would not necessarily have 5 boards, this is determined at point of manufacture and is decided by us based on size of the door and timber available at the time (maximum board width 200mm) we can do a specific number of boards but it would need to be specified at point of order, again there is no extra charge for this service.
5. We offer 2 grades of oak - Character Grade and Prime Grade, the differences are briefly described below, please ask for our info sheet if you require more information.
   1. Prime- Minimal knots and colour variation - Tolerance on each face of two intergrown sound knots of 12mm maximum diameter, or this equivalent per linear metre. Slope of grain: almost straight. Not acceptable: sapwood, heart spiral and curly grain deterioration, cross grain, bark pocket, bore holes, warping. Surface checks tolerated. Extra £30 (+VAT)
   2. Character- Colour variation and knots -  Presence on each face of small knots without limitation, and of a maximum of three sound knots per metre, maximum diameter not to exceed one half of the width of the timber or 40mm or equivalent. No extra charge.
6. As standard all doors come unfinished but we can apply an oiled or a lacquered coating if preferred for an extra £60.00 (+VAT) or apply a spray on fire coating for £95 (+VAT)
7. As standard doors are air nailed and glued together. It has always been considered good practice not to apply glue to the tongue and groove joints in the boards, this is to allow for natural expansion and contraction. Glue is just applied to fit the ledges and braces and these are then also air nailed onto the boards. We do offer a screw and pelleted option for an extra £31.60 (+VAT) which improves the strength of the construction method.
8. We do sell hand forged ironmongery packs that are ideal for use with these doors, these packs include 2 x Penny Tee Hinges 18" (a pair), 1 x Suffolk Latch set and are supplied with the necessary screws for fitting. £42.23 per set (+VAT)
9. Lock blocks are also available free of charge. 
10. All our oak is kiln dried as standard which lowers the moisture content and kills off any woodworm or infestations. We can supply doors in green oak and air dried if preferred- please contact a member of our team for a price.
